A few new friends

Behind the silos are many milkweed plants.  Where there’s milkweed, there are caterpillars.  Not just any caterpillars, mind you, but the progeny of the exquisitely beautiful Monarch butterfly.  Last year we were fortunate to witness the metamorphoses of six caterpillars.  Today, the children caught six more, as well as a few Tussock moth caterpillars. The last bouquet…

The sunflowers are fading fast…soon we’ll collect seeds for next year’s Grotto. This morning, the little girls picked the last few flowers.  How cheerful those sunny sunflower faces are…resting in a vase next to the kitchen sink.  A last reminder of a swiftly passing summer.

Forget the tears!!

Okay…I’m sold!  Move over Mr. Coffee and make way for Bialetti.  I feared the brew would be bitter, but no!  It is delightful; rich and full bodied.  No wonder there’s a Bialetti in nearly every home in Italy… A dollar well spent.  Time for another cup!
