Bit of yellow cornstalk peeking from beneath the light blanket of snow that fell this weekend. Bitterly cold… I am thinking…about friends living and those passed. Feeling a bit melancholy [...]

Have you been very, very good? Do you dare put out your shoes? Will they hold gifts and treats, or perhaps the gentle rebuke of a “switch?” This evening the children will gather ’round the Advent wreath. Dad will read this evening’s scripture and in the hushed glow of candlelight we’ll sing “O Come, O [...]

As mom reveled in the glory of the new and recently delivered dishwasher, Emily found new and creative ways to play with her Alphabet of Catholic Saints. The Grands had given Charlotte and Emily their old Nativity stable to play with…it’s quite lovely, covered with moss and even has a loft. Emily asked where Jesus, [...]

Once again, the slips have been drawn, and this year’s cast of characters have been assembled. Every year, for the past several years, our family has endeavored to emulate the virtues displayed by the various “characters” of the Nativity of our Lord. Slips of paper containing the names and virtues of each are folded and [...]

I am a traditional Catholic homeschooling mother of 9 children, married for 30 years to the most patient and sainted man. As converts to Catholicism in 1991, our family has only recently discovered the beauty and full expression of our beliefs in the timeless liturgy of antiquity, the Extraordinary Form also commonly referred to as the Traditional Latin Mass. An avid knitter, I also enjoy gardening, reading and immersing myself in the everyday graces of my vocation.
