I chatter over stony ways,
In little sharps and trebles,

I bubble into eddying bays,
I babble on the pebbles.

With many a curve my banks I fret
By many a field and fallow,
And many a fairy foreland set
With willow-weed and mallow.

I chatter, chatter, as I flow
To join the brimming river,
For men may come and men may go,
But I go on for ever.

Blessings,

Oh, that was so lovely, Kimberly! Thank you for sharing both the pictures and the excerpt of the poem.
Lovely! That was one of my favourite poems when I was a little girl – being an Anne of Green Gables fan necessarily meant that I had to immerse myself in Tennyson’s work – and when I loaded up your blog I was brought back several years to when I used to recite it by our little creek.
Clare…are we kindred spirits?
Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorites…and Tennyson long before Lucy Maud Montgomery!!
