FOR TODAY – April 20, 2009
Outside my Window…A weepy gray sky…lots of rain and wind on the way. After last night’s deluge, there’s a moat around this castle…
I am thinking…that we had a nice, long Easter break. It’s time to get back to work!
I am thankful for…this day and every day the Lord has given. May I live it well!
From the kitchen…espresso and monkey bread. Dinner this evening: something with turkey. I have a lot of leftovers from this Sabbath’s feast…
In our school room…school’s in. I feel so very disorganized and uninspired. Ah, well…school work is work. If it was all fun, it would be play!
I am creating…I’ve been crocheting quite a bit. I never thought I’d enjoy crochet. I’ve always been a bit of a knitting “snob!” Since discovering just how quickly one can complete I project, I’m hooked…pun intended!
I am going…to allow this day to unfold as it will, trusting in God that all is happening according to His will for my life…
I am wearing…flannel jammies…it’s really early, the rest of my family is sleeping…including hubby who worked a late shift last night…
I am reading…Finishing He Leadeth Me. I can’t recommend this book enough. And the Golden Legend of Young Saints. I’ll be posting a review shortly for The Catholic Company.
I am hoping…that our first day back at school will be a productive one…
I am hearing…the sound of the children…footsteps slowly padding down the stairs. The day begins…
Around the house…We’ve been keeping the downstairs in fairly decent order. Now, if I could just get caught up on the laundry!
One of my favorite things…chickens. Ours will be here the first week of May! Looks like we’re getting six…
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week…school, school, school, school, school. And laundry. Next week, my two oldest sons will receive the sacrament of Confirmation according to the Traditional Rite. An historic occasion for our Diocese…and a long-awaited event in the lives of these two boys!
Here are a few picture thoughts I am sharing with you…
When your shoes fall off in the creek…

…the only thing left to do is this:

Have a blessed week!

Kimberly,
I have to ask what creek it is you frequent? I would love to find one my girls could go in! So much fun! I remember when I was little we lived with my grandparents and they had one that ran beside their on house on the property and was spring fed. That is where there water came from as well. I loved playing in it!
i wish i was i knitting snob. *sob*
and i can’t wait to see YOUR chickies. we lost one over the weekend. it was most horrible, for me anyway. i feel sort of like fern at the injustice of animals dying. i know it is part of nature, but nature can be so cruel sometimes! the blue jay i thought i loved so much was the culprit.
ps.
i have had to pray REALLY hard lately to keep pluggin’ away at school too. thank goodness our God is an awesome God!!!!
It is so hard to get the school done this time of year. I keep reminding myself that there are seven more weeks, not days.
We also have a moat around our house. It is seeping into the garage…
So glad you’re enjoying crocheting. I love it… it is so encouraging to see instant progress. My grandma is a knitter and on Easter she was showing me these beautiful baby things she had been working on with teeny-tiny needles and beautiful soft yarn… I wish I was a knitter. Oh well, my daughter has taken to it.
God bless you, Kimberly!
Darcy:
The creek is Big Darby…just a hop and a skip from home!
Regan:
Sorry about your chickie! My hubby has been warning me not to name the chicks…says I’ll get to attached. That’s okay…I’d rather love than not!
Kristyn:
How I wish I only had 7 weeks left…we’re so behind. I’ve struggled this year like never before, but then I’ve never had to educate high school, junior high, 5th, 3rd, 1st and Kindergarten all at the same time. Overwhelmed is an understatement. Schooling six is definitely the toughest home educating adventure I’ve ever undertaken! Ah, well…God is good and never calls us to a challenge without equipping us with the grace to meet it head on!
I always get a kick out of your creek adventures! You know, one of these days, I’ll make good on my threat and visit you. I’d love to get a recommended reading list from you for Catholic Christian Living books. And of course, books on the saints.
I’m pretty overwhelmed by the selection now. It’s grown quite a bit in 25 years!
Oh, we had lots and lots of rain over the weekend. I know just what you are talking about. We were a swamp!
I can’t seem to get the hang of knitting OR crocheting. I’m all thumbs it seems! I keep hoping my daughter will get the hang of it.
How wonderful about your two oldest boys! Our Archdiocese wants children to be in their sophomore year of high school before taking their classes for the Sacrament of Confirmation. I remember it being in my 8th grade year. Ah well, time marches on!
I love seeing your creek adventures too! It always looks so fun, and refreshing!
Blessings to you and your family,
~Kathy
