Okay…so I’m fooling around with the blog, because I’m too miserable to do anything else. So I change the header, change colors a few times and then decide to experiment with a patterned background. I like the colors…but now the post container seems to be scrolling a bit slowly… Is it my computer? Is the [...]

Tomorrow is the Feast of St. Wenceslas, the Good King. History tells us of his charity and fervor…heart blazing with the love of Christ, so much so that the fire of his love was felt by the young page who trod in his footsteps. Murdered by his brother, his final words were: May God forgive [...]

Okay. I’m willing to concede that I can be a bit absent-minded. And it certainly isn’t beyond me to do something a little nutty with a dishwasher gel pack. But…I don’t recall doing this: I didn’t do it. Nope. Uh-uh. Not me. Investigation to follow… **ah, yes…a picture of the interior of my fridge. [...]

As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him. While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and his disciples. The Pharisees saw this and said [...]

As I frequently reiterate whenever I post a news snippet…this is not a news or political commentary blog… However…anyone who knows me can tell you of my great love for words. And the dictionary. So I couldn’t have been more tickled to see the nifty way that George Stephanopoulos turned the tables on Barack Obama [...]

How to instill confidence and build ego in the perpetually-younger-always-smaller-little-brother who is trying desperately to prove he’s getting bigger…and stronger: Carrying in the groceries yesterday…he says: Hey, mom! Did you buy different potatoes this time? They feel so much lighter…kinda like they’re hollow… Mom says, (carefully considering her words): Well, Gareth…I actually thought that bag [...]

It comes so much earlier, now. Darkness creeps upon us, supper dishes only recently in the sink, as the evening sun sinks low on the horizon… Time to bed down the chickens…roosters and hens must roost, safely enclosed from the night’s predators, internal clocks winding down. Nature’s lullaby begins with the receding light… We wind [...]

It was a rooster…or, dare I say it…TWO roosters. That’s right, folks. Cecilia and Penny are actually Cecil and Penn. Sigh. [...]

For two days I set the table for nine…and now we’re back to eight. It was lovely having Clementine home, seeing her face at the breakfast table, sharing meals and conversation. I am a traditional Catholic homeschooling mother of 9 children, married for 30 years to the most patient and sainted man. As converts to Catholicism in 1991, our family has only recently discovered the beauty and full expression of our beliefs in the timeless liturgy of antiquity, the Extraordinary Form also commonly referred to as the Traditional Latin Mass. An avid knitter, I also enjoy gardening, reading and immersing myself in the everyday graces of my vocation.
