PRAISED BE JESUS CHRIST!!!

Kimberly~ I absolutely wept reading this!!! I COULD HAVE WRITTEN IT (except I am a "cradle Catholic" whose family stopped attending Mass right after I was Confirmed... and I didn't attend another Mass for almost a decade!). I married my "high school sweetheart" (also a cradle Catholic) and we returned to Mass (Novus Ordo) while still engaged. Our faith continued to deepen and grow (as did our family -- DEO GRATIAS!!!) and more and more we were becoming horrified at what our children were exposed to at Mass. Irreverence, unbelievable immodesty, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist smiling and telling me how cute my baby was while holding Our Lord in front of me, hand-clapping, girl altar boys, deacon talking about respecting life "from BIRTH to death", etc. You all know the list. It's rampant.

And then... God led us "out of the desert and into the Promised Land". I love how you put that!!! We discovered this most ancient Mass!!! From the very first time, I knew this was what Mass was supposed to be. THIS was how Christ in the Eucharist was SUPPOSED to be adored, worshiped and glorified. And what about those 14 ALTAR BOYS?!!!!! Where are all the football shirts?!!!! Where are the mini-skirts?!!!! Where are all the women up on the altar?!!!! Where is all the chatting and texting and laughing?!!!!! IT WAS NOT HERE. HE WAS HERE. And everyone KNEW it. Don't you see? Everyone at this Latin Mass actually believes that the Creator of the Universe is here!!! Yes, He is also there at the Novus Ordo Mass. Absolutely. But I can't see that the people believe it. How can you believe it and show up in your Steeler shirt and jeans?

We have been blessed with five sons and three daughters so far. Our oldest son is almost MC, our second son is up to acolyte and our two younger ones are torch-bearers. (Youngest is still a baby). And yes, how they RUN to the sacristy!!! How they love two-hour-weekly altar boy practice!!!

Thank you, thank you for this most beautiful rendition of your story. And welcome home, dear Sister in Christ.

(Prayers are continuing for your Meredith!)

God Bless,
Mrs. Jennifer Sikora

I am so glad to hear that your daughter is doing better. :-) On the (cleaning) home front, I wish I can do what you did with your excess stuff. I always have this excuse that by the time my husband and I are done with clothes, and my boys have gone through the clothes, they are already to ratty to give away. And then there are the many clothes and toys that we keep because the younger children will use them. Oh well. :-)
May God bless you always.

I love reading your daybook entries!

I am so happy to know that your daughter is feeling so much better! I will offer continued prayers for her to have a complete recovery.

Your youngest daughters are just darling! I can just imagine my youngest three girls (ages 13, 11, and 9) really hitting it off with them.

May God bless you in all of your endeavors--your life is so blessedly full!

Hey, I cam across your blog just a day or two after Christmas through a family friend, I have been praying for you, your daughter and all your family since then. I am going to be 21 in a few weeks, so I am close to your daughter's age, hearing what she has gone though has made me realize even more how quickly your life can change. I will keep checking in and keep up the prayers for all of you. I am glad to have found your blog. I have been home-cooled all my life and I am from a big Catholic family too,13 kids :)
God Bless!

Dear Christine...I'm so sorry that you're undergoing such a trial with your son, following his accident. I know nothing of what has happened in your family, but I know only too well how a simple accident can send one's world into chaos. There are many oddly wrapped "gifts" out there...our Lord uses each of them to our good, if we're only brave enough to "unwrap" them and accept them as blessings. I pray that all will be well for you...that your son will know healing and wholeness...that your family will be blessed in the midst of this suffering. Thank you for sharing your prayers with us...

Saying that this is the most trying experience you've ever undergone is really saying something, as I have followed your blog for about 3 years and know that you have undergone quite a bit! But I know what you mean, and yes, our sense about our world is not really based on realities. The reality is that even with money, health insurance, good health and all the benefits this world has to offer, all of it can change in a split second. There is no security outside of the love of God. He alone can be relied on.

Will continue to keep your family and especially your daughter in our prayers.

That was so beautiful, Kimberly. Praying through tears for you this morning, dear friend. I pray that Meredith will see the wisdom in staying with you for as long as possible, so that she will be stronger and more healed by the time she returns to Kentucky. I also pray for you, and your family, as you help her in her healing process. ((((Kimberly))))

Kristen! It's so lovely to see your name in the combox! I've been meaning to put those lovely cards on "display" on the blog...perhaps as things wind down a bit. Thank you so much for your kind words and prayers!
